Hey Guys, its Andy here bringing you my review of the latest game in the series by Ubisoft, Assassins Creed 3.
Now, im a big fan of the Assassins Creed series, I loved the storylines, the combat, the characters, everything!! And whilst AC2 will remain my favorite, i have been very impressed by AC3.
The game starts off right where AC Revelations ends, with Desmond and the team arriving 'where they are meant to be'. No spoilers here! I will say that I played all the Creed games (As in AC1, AC2, Brotherhood and Revelation), and i can tell you that while you can simply skip from AC2 to 3, you will get alot more out of the story if you play the other two games with Ezio. Now, onto the newest addition- Assassins Creed 3.

Assassins Creed 3 sets you out with a brand new Assassin, Connor. Set in the American Revolution times, you continue your duties of the Order, hunting down the Templars in an attempt to help keep his people safe. All the standard features are still there- you can free run, including climbing trees and running across branches, as well as the ability to run through buildings via open windows. The combat system has also been re-designed for more fluidity. Healing is now along the same lines as the first Assassins game, which means healing whilst out of combat. Granted it is very handy, but not so when your surrounded by a group of enemies and need a little help because there is no medicine. New weapons are also set in, including the bow which you can use to hunt and collect skin pelts, and the Tomahawk, by far, my favorite in-game weapon to date of this series.
Campaign aside, there are a multitude of side quests available. There are pages of an almanac to collect which will blow around the city and you have to climb buildings and chase, 'Liberation' missions where you can free areas much like previous Creed games with the Templar strongholds. Also available are naval missions, where you get to be the captain of your very own ship, and wage war against other ships whilst controlling your speed (No sails, Half Sails, Full Sails) and fire cannons from left and right side.
You dont always play as Connor however. At the start of the game you also play as another character called Haytham. He is also intrinsic to the storyline, but i will not tell you how. Enjoy your missions with him. During your gameplay in the Animus, you will be pulled out of it by your team and do quests in today's time as Desmond. I thoroughly enjoyed these missions, as with every single game i wished to do more with Desmond and this was very well done. You have no HUD and must remember how to fight/climb/attack with no on screen help. It will help you improve your combat, especially when it comes to learning how to counter.

Overall, I am very impressed by this game. The graphic engine has been completely re-made, and for proof of this I dare you all to simply look at the ocean, the way the waves move and the light bounces off the surface. Beautiful is definitely the word I would use to describe this addition to the series, and the storytelling is incredible.
However, there are bugs, and maybe I was just unlucky in the way I play games but I did encounter a lot of them. This by no means dampened the experience I had in playing, and whilst not quite complete yet, I have enjoyed it immensely. The characters are well developed, the story well woven into American history, and I cant wait to see what happens next.
